In a landmark achievement, the Executive of the Anambra State Association Washington DC Metro Area (ASA DC), in collaboration with the Women’s Wing (ASAWW), has brought to life one of its long-standing missions—the formal establishment of a charitable vehicle through the registration of the ASA DC Foundation in the state of Maryland, USA.
This milestone marks a transformative moment in the history of ASA DC, heralding a new era of structured philanthropy and community service. As the foremost Igbo organization in the DC Metro Area, ASA DC continues to lead by example, reinforcing its commitment to social impact and cultural legacy.
The Foundation’s official launch was celebrated with a successful fundraising event held on July 12, 2025, aimed at supporting its flagship initiative—the ASA DC Orphanage Project in Anambra State, Nigeria. The event drew widespread support from members, partners, and well-wishers.
Speaking at the occasion, Sir Benjamine Uduji, President of ASA DC, commended the collective effort of members and stakeholders, stating, “This is a bold step forward. Together, we are taking ASA DC to the next level.”
In her heartfelt vote of thanks, Mrs. Unoma Okigbo, President of ASAWW, expressed deep gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the initiative. “Your support has laid the foundation for a brighter future for countless children. Thank you for believing in this vision,” she said.
With the establishment of the ASA DC Foundation, the association has not only institutionalized its charitable mission but also set the stage for a legacy of compassion, unity, and progress.
